Adam called today. It sort of startled me when I looked at the caller ID and it said McConnell AFB. When he routs his calls through the base here it doesn't cost him anything. It was really great to hear from him. He said he wanted to call on Thanksgiving day but the lines were way too long. He is finally in a pod so now I can send him packages and after Dec 1 he will most likely have internet service in his pod so we may hear from him a little more often but it sounds like he is working quite a bit. He is working 6 days on and 1 day off. 12 hours on and 12 hours off but it is more like 14 on and 10 off. He is also working the night shift. So basically it sounds like he works, eats and sleeps. His thanksgiving meal was Steak and Lobster. I told him we should have joined him for dinner...lol. As far as the weather, he said during the day wasn't bad but very cold at night. We didn't get to talk for long and of course being military there was alot he couldn't tell me but it was soooooo great getting to hear his voice.

and keep them in your prayers!

I received another short email from Adam early this morning. I had asked what kinds of things he wanted or needed. He said he was good for now and not to send anything at the moment as that he is in temporary housing and had nowhere to put anything. He said to wait until he was assigned to a pod where he would have room to put stuff before I sent anything so when he lets me know that he is in a pod then I will post it for anyone who wants to send stuff to him.

November 15, 2008

I'm so excited!! Adam called me today from Kuwait. They left out of Mcguire AFB on Wed evening or night, flew to Ireland and then on to Kuwait. He will be there until probably Wed or Thursday and then they are heading for Camp Bucca on an apache blackhawk. I know he will really enjoy that. He sounded really good. He said he has slept most of the time since they got there. He is hoping to see his cousins Mitchell and Michael before he leaves for Kuwait. I hope he does. It will be nice for them to see some family and for him as well. I will post on here each time I hear from him. We are soooo very proud of our Adam :).

Nov 9, 2008

Well I finally have this blogspot set up so I can keep everyone updated on Adam while he is in Iraq. He started his deployment on October 10, 2008 and this weekend he flew home on his 4 day pass and suprised us. It was an awesome suprise, a short stay, and very hard to say bye to him again this morning at the airport. He said he will probably be leaving the states sometime in the next 2 weeks. I told him to let me know an address as soon as he could when he gets over there so I can send him things. I have listed his email address for anyone who wants to email him. Keep watch and I will post as often as I hear from him. I know we will all keep Adam in our prayers and will miss him while he is gone :)
